Classic Waffles

First batch of waffles in the new upright Cuisinart. Pretty happy with it!

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups warm milk
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

This is our vertical Cuisinart waffle maker, bought at Canadian Tire.

There’s this top bit where any extra batter bubbles up, and you end up with less mess. And a “waffle bone” dough handle.

Pretty happy with this machine so far, and the recipe seems foolproof too.

OK, turns out there is interest in this Cuisinart waffle maker  Here’s a video demo on YouTube:

And here’s a link to the PDF of the manual. This also contains recipes for a bunch of different waffle types – Buttermilk, Belgian, Multigrain, Buckwheat, Lemon-Poppy Seed, and Ricotta-Raspberry.

Barb asked if the griddle plates are removable. They are not. In general, this is a very solid unit, with very few moving parts. You’ve got the lock on the side and then the knob for how brown you want the waffles. Red light for heated and ready to accept batter, green light for done based on your 1-5 knob setting.
