This rasam is sour, spicy and is warming to the palate. It is best to have rasam in chilly winters or when you are suffering from cough and cold. The spices and herbs that go into the rasam like cumin, black pepper, garlic and tamarind help in relieving the cold and also act as a digestive.
I have some tamarind paste around that I don’t experiment with enough, and sounds very savoury as the weather gets colder.
